(PRWEB) January 23, 2012

Having half its member resorts recently listed among the top 25 hotels in all of Central America by a major travel website shows how cooperation results in customer satisfaction, Rainforest & Reef Resorts of Belize member Lucy Fleming said.

Ms Fleming and her husband Mick own The Lodge at Chaa Creek in Belize, one of the resorts selected by Trip Advisor readers as the Travelers Choice 25 Top Hotels in the Central America region for 2012.

Trip Advisor is a major travel website that posts reviews, opinions and news submitted by a large number of travelers from around the world. According to its website, TripAdvisor’s travel community has written millions of reviews describing their best and worst vacations, so you can decide where to go and what to avoid.

Ms Fleming said that because Trip Advisors content is primarily user-generated, it is highly trusted by travelers, and that the Travelers Choice awards are respected by travelers worldwide and widely recognized and sought after in the global tourism industry.

To have three of our Rainforest & Reef Resorts selected as among 25 of the best hotels in the entire Central America region is a real honor, and goes to show that individual resorts cooperating to ensure customer satisfaction works, even in a highly competitive industry such as ours, she said.

The Lodge at Chaa Creek, Hamanasi Adventure and Dive Resort and the Phoenix Resort of San Pedro are members of Rainforest & Reef Resorts of Belize who made this years list.

Ms Fleming said it was also significant that eleven of the 25 Top trip advisor hotels were Belizean resorts. When you consider that out of all of Central America, encompassing Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rice, Panama and El Salvador, that close to half of the 25 best hotels are Belizean, and take into account Belizes small size, well, that really says something about our tourism industry.

And then to have three of our small group of Rainforest and Reef Resorts included in that list makes us very happy and shows that, as a group, were doing something right.

Ms Fleming explained that Rainforest & Reef Resorts of Belize came together as a means to maximize visitors experience in Belize by making it easy to explore the inland rainforests with their many Maya temples and archaeological sites along with Caribbean Sea attractions in one visit.

At the end of the day its all about customer satisfaction, and by working together to match our guests with the right tour packages, resorts and locations we get a very high level of customer satisfaction. This is one reason why half of our members are in the top 25 resorts in all of Central America, Ms Fleming said, adding that the Trip Advisor recognition is particularly important as world attention focuses on Central Americas rich Maya history and culture during 2012.

Great online word of mouth is invaluable with so many people becoming interested in our unique ability to combine rainforest, Maya and Caribbean beach experiences during 2012, she said.

Here’s where we currently stand in this 2010 Hurricane Season

(For an up-to-date view of Caribbean hurricane activity, use our Caribbean Hurricane page)

Earl

Hurricane Earl is currently off the coast of the Bahamas and getting ready to work its way up the Atlantic coast, Northwest, at 17mph, 28kph. It still packs a punch with sustained winds of 135mph, watch out Massachusetts, Marthas Vinyard, and Nantucket.

Here’s an up-to-date tracking image of Earl:

Fiona

Following behind Earl is tropical storm Fiona, currently about 185 miles north east of St Thomas, with winds of 60mph, 95kph. Fiona is moving northwest at 20mph and current projections put her along much the same track as Earl, albeit hopefully more to the east.

Here’s up-to-date tracking for Fiona:

Gaston

Heading across the Atlantic on its way to the Caribbean and eastern coast is tropical storm Gaston, the seventh tropical storm of the Atlantic Hurricane season. Moving west at 15mph, or 25kph, Gaston has sustained winds of 40mph and is not a threat until probably Monday.

Here’s up-to-date tracking for Gaston:

(tap tap) okay, back to reality. As the old quote goes; “if the mountain cannot come to mohammed…”

Have a look at these gorgeous Caribbean Wall Mural prints. This is a photograph that you apply to your wall, like wallpaper. The images are fantastic and they come in various sizes and shapes. It’s as close to being there as you can get and with a little imagination you can experience the Caribbean from within your own home.

It’s as close as you can get for the many of us who unfortunately don’t live there (yet). See a good selection at Caribbean Wall Murals.

Now, where are those umbrella drinks?!

Hurricanes to still come…

We’re a third of the way through hurricane season 2010 and so far it has been pretty mild, only three named storms. However don’t get too complacent because NOAA is predicting that we are by no means finished for this year.

According to Jane Lubchenco, NOAA Administrator; “August heralds the start of the most active phase of the Atlantic hurricane season and with the meteorological factors in place, now is the time for everyone living in hurricane prone areas to be prepared,”

As a reminder, NOAA projects

14 to 20 named storms (top winds of 39 mph or higher), including:

8 to 12 hurricanes (top winds of 74 mph or higher), of which:

4 to 6 could be major hurricanes (Category 3, 4 or 5; winds of at least 111 mph)

This is still indicative of an higher than normal season and “All indications are for considerable activity during the next several months,” said Gerry Bell, Ph.D., lead seasonal hurricane forecaster at NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center. “As we’ve seen in past years, storms can come on quickly during the peak months of the season. There remains a high likelihood that the season could be very active, with the potential of being one of the more active on record.”

Personally I’ve only experienced one hurricane that didn’t even come close to the island I was on at the time (500 miles away if I recall correctly). It still managed to create waves that crashed up over the top of fifty foot cliffs, damaged houses and beaches, and flooded parts of the island.

If you’re new to living an a hurricane area you should research and prepare now. Interested to live and work in the Caribbean? Find a Caribbean Job.

The colors are quite subdued and this would look nice in a neutral-toned brown living room or den such as ours (maybe yours?), adding an exotic feel and matching nicely with the dark browns that are so prevalent in furniture these days.

One interesting tidbit with Art.com is that they now have a feature that allows you to upload a picture of YOUR wall and then view art you are interested, on it. It’s a neat feature and helps to ensure that what you are looking to purchase will fit as well as you expect in your home decor.
